HOW IT WORKS

About the IPv6 Connectivity Test

The test retrieves AAAA records and uses IPv6-specific tools when installed. A service is not fully dual-stack merely because an AAAA record exists; routing, firewall and application listeners must also work.

How to use this result

  1. Run the test from this server.Use a public hostname, address, prefix or ASN in the format requested above.
  2. Compare with another observation point.Run a local command or use a second provider to identify location-specific behaviour.
  3. Correlate related evidence.Use the related tools below to compare DNS, routes, ports, TLS and application responses.
  4. Keep the time and context.Routing, DNS caches and reputation data change, so record when the result was collected.

Common interpretation issues

  • Publishing an unreachable AAAA record can cause delays or failures for IPv6-capable clients.
  • Some hosting platforms have IPv6 DNS but no matching firewall rule.
  • Happy Eyeballs in browsers can hide partial IPv6 failures.

Frequently asked questions

Can this test my own broadband IPv6?

No. It tests from the toolbox server.

Should IPv4 and IPv6 serve the same content?

Usually yes, unless the service has a deliberate protocol-specific design.
